A Creative Feast for Matt & Lynsey’s Wedding Day

Matt and Lynsey are two of the most talented creatives I have had the pleasure of working with.  Both are skilled designers and I always knew that their wedding day would be a reflection of their combined skills, talents and individuality.

Lynsey works quite extensively in the wedding industry with her company Bimbo Design and it was through this link that we first connected and I was honoured to be asked to capture their wedding day.

It’s safe to say that almost all weddings are created on a very specific budget.  Matt and Lynsey were no different. They knew they were going to have an amazing wedding day but it would be on a very strict budget as they have a beautiful home and garden which is gradually being renovated and that had to remain their priority with the finances.  So when there are corners to be cut, they did what was necessary, and rolled up their sleeves and got on with doing it all.

There was always going to be the need to hire in specific services, where the couple were unable to do the job themselves, but if they could do something they did it and boy did they do it well!

With her connections in the industry there was no shortage of suppliers wanting to work with the couple. Lynsey’s beautiful dress was supplied by the gorgeous ladies (and Lynsey’s close friends) at Nora Eve and her incredible bouquet was lovingly created by Jessica at JJ’s Flowers.

Matt is also a hugely talented creative illustrator and owns Goo Design in Sheffield. He has a very unique design voice and his work was on display throughout the day from the table names to the beer mats. Lynsey is a skilled graphic designer and together they bestowed a visual feast upon their guests. Where else are you going to find tables named after their favourite pubs, including logos, and a top table named The Chesterfield Arms; which happened to be the place where they went on their first date! Bloody brilliant!

The morning began at the couple’s lovely home where Lynsey and her bridal party were busy preparing for the day ahead. The fabulous Emma Buck (Beauty by Emma) was on hand with hair and make-up, an amazing feat considering she was also a bridesmaid and in between sorting everyone else she was getting herself ready too.

Matt and the boys, including his son Luka were getting ready at another location and I met up with them at the church in the idyllic village of Heath near Chesterfield.

After the beautiful and very personal ceremony the newlyweds and their guests headed off to Eastwood Park in Hasland in a classic VW camper van called ‘Polly’.

Within the park is Hasland Village Hall, this was the perfect setting for this couple, providing them a blank canvas upon which they stamped their very personal creative magic across every square inch.

The day before; the couple along with their army of friends and helpers, including Julie at Derbyshire Wedding Planners had been dressing the venue and the attention to detail was amazing. With the pub theme named tables, each was dressed with pub snacks which the guests enjoyed on arrival, making a change for the usual canapés.

After their glorious Summer feast of a Ploughmans lunch there was a pub quiz provide by Paul at Spirits High who also on hand with the disco for the evening’s entertainment, but before that the guests were treated to the awesome sounds of The Ruby Blues who describe themselves as an ‘Eerie rocking blues band with a Fratelli’s edge and Johnny Cash as the front man’, they were superb! When they first rocked up I thought the Peaky Blinders were coming to join us, they looked awesome!

I hope you all enjoy looking back at the memories from this incredible wedding day. For those who are looking for the first time, please take some inspiration from this couple who are proof that you don’t have to have an endless supply of cash to fund your wedding day, you can still create magic and have your dream wedding, all you need is the passion and a little creative vision.

A special thank you and shout outs to the following suppliers: Richard at Bespoke Bartender, Ellie and Vintage Tea Bells, Michelle at Wonderland Cake & Cookie Co, April Delights and Chris at CW Campers.

Wishes of love and happiness are sent in abundance to Mr & Mrs Cockayne (and Luka) for a very bright and fabulous future together. Marie x x x
