My first DSLR camera was purchased with the sole intention of capturing some quality family photographs; and with two young boys it was essential to document as much as possible whilst they raced through childhood. Little did I realise my first camera would soon lead me into the world of professional wedding photography.

I have always derived great pleasure from creating things and maybe it was my destiny to find myself creating images that make others happy. Making beautiful images and capturing the true emotions of a real wedding is the ultimate honour for me. Who wouldn't love being around people who celebrate one of the happiest days of their lives?

A graphic designer by trade, I was always blessed with a natural creative flair, a keen eye for detail and good composition, because of this, the transition to photography was pretty painless and straightforward. However learning the technical was a little more tricky, but everything else was already there.

My first venture into the world of wedding photography was a baptism of fire. A colleague had asked me to capture the wedding of her daughter. Thinking I would jump at the chance she was rather surprised by my hesitance. I was fully aware of the pressures of wedding photography and wasn't sure if I was able to meet the rigorous demands, however after a great deal of persuasion I decided to give it a go. I photographed the wedding and survived. Surprisingly I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and best of all the couple were delighted with the images I produced. I was on such a high after that experience and from then on the possibility that one day photography could actually become my profession was carefully considered.

Since then I have gone on to capture many many more. Working independently and also supporting other photographers, I have developed the skills necessary to be regarded as an established, professional wedding photographer.

I describe myself as a Lifestyle Photographer, meaning I document natural, fun and romantic images whilst providing a little guidance and support. I find that my easy going personality along with a relaxed and nurturing approach helps couples to feel relaxed and at ease in front of my camera.

The best compliments I can get are from the people I have worked with. I am always humbled to discover that couples have recommended me to their friends and family resulting in further bookings; this is how I get most of my work. I can spend hundreds of pounds on marketing, but a recommendation is priceless. I never ask this of my couples, therefore it is even more humbling to learn that they have done so based on their own experiences.

I am not about the hard sell or the up sell. Honesty and transparency are key to building a mutual trust and you will always know what you are getting and more importantly what it will cost.

It's simple really. I am passionate about what I do, I love people and I love taking beautiful photographs. I will capture your treasured memories and ensure that they are cherished forever.

Don't take my word for it!

Below is a small selection of comments received from actual clients.

"Not only a photographer but my driver on the day, now that is above and beyond!   You were amazing on the day and we cannot thank you enough.  `The comments we have had from guests says it all.  I would recommend you to anyone." - Mr & Mrs Clarke

"A HUGE THANK YOU!!!  You have given us photographs that hold the most special memories of our wedding day that we'll cherish forever. We can't quite believe it is us in the photos!" - Mr & Mrs Reis

"The images you have captured of our day are just perfect!  We couldn't have wished for better memories to treasure, you got every shot perfect and we love each and every image.  You went above and beyond the duties of a photographer, you even helped me into my dress and mended my veil #lifesaver." - Mr & Mrs Gensmantel

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!  The photos you have captured of our day are simply stunning.  We couldn't have asked for anything more.  The day ran so smoothly and you played a huge part in that.  You knew when to get the photos and we didn't feel that we missed any of our day.  You helped me get in my wedding dress and ensured everyone looked perfect even being on hand with pins and scissors." - Mr & Mrs Reece

'We thought we would like to write to you thanking you for the fantastic job you did at Wortley Hall last Friday. We have had so many positive comments from friends and family that we thought we'd like to share!

From our point of view we thought you were brilliant and really helped to make our day special from helping with button holes and not letting us panic about the thought of it raining.

You have been so approachable throughout, from meeting last year through to our engagement shoot (even though we felt quite shy to start with) and then onto our big day and we will be recommending you highly to any of our friends/family that decide to tie the knot in the future.

Thank you for making our day that extra bit special' - Mr & Mrs Price

'It wasn't hard to pick Marie from a crowd of photographers as we were in awe of the beautiful colours and composition of all the photos featured on her website. Once we met, Scott and I knew we had made the right decision.  Marie was immediately on the same wave length of us.  We don't do 'posey cheese' or PDA's and were worried about our photos not really showing 'us' as a couple.   In three words 'she nailed it'. On the day we felt relaxed, comfortable and completely at ease as Marie and her associate guided us through each pose. I would highly recommend Marie to any friends or families wedding in the future.' - Mr & Mrs Mills
