Traditional and Elegant Wedding Day at Alfreton Hall, Derbyshire

I met Gary, the Groom at The Pillar of Rock in the historic Market Town of Bolsover. Along with his Groom’s party, including friends and family there was enough time to enjoy a steadying beverage, or two before heading off for the short walk to the Parish Church of Bolsover.

Sarah, the bride was enjoying her morning away from the camera. However soon after Gary and the guests had made their way into the church, her bridesmaids, including Sarah’s Daughter Beth arrived, shortly followed by the Bride and her very proud Father.

Inside the beautiful Parish Church Gary was waiting patiently for Sarah to arrive, and after a brief rain shower Sarah made her way to the church’s entrance, ably assisted by the vicar, the chauffeurs and her Father.

The ceremony was filled with an abundance of love and laughter as the couple declared their commitment to each another in front of their closest family and friends.

Immediately after the ceremony, the guests had an opportunity to congratulate the newlyweds before showering them in handfuls of confetti. No sooner had the couple climbed into the car the heavens opened, perfect timing considering Gary and Sarah were warm and dry, savouring their first glass of celebratory champagne together.

The wedding reception was held in the grand surroundings of Alfreton Hall, Derbyshire. The guests had already arrived ready to greet Gary and Sarah. After a brief couple of shots with the wedding cars the couple joined their guests for more champagne and canapés.

The group shots were soon completed and I was then able to have time with the couple in the grounds surrounding the hall. Most couples do appreciate the quite moments that the couple shots allow them. Compared to the rest of the day it’s a rare opportunity where a couple can have a few quiet moments together.

Back inside the guests were soon seated. Speeches were first, allowing those taking part to relax and enjoy the meal. I was very fortunate to have been invited to eat with the guests and I can confirm that the food at Alfreton Hall is superb. The couple’s wedding tables were named after historic local mines which many guests would be able to remember, myself included.

The arrival of the evening guests coincided with the opening of a grand casino, specially arranged by the couple. Each guest was presented with personalised money which was then exchanged for chips to play at the tables. Immediately after the cutting of the cake and first dance, the guests, including the younger ones made their way upstairs to the specially set out room to try their luck on the casino tables.

The evening was in full swing and the evening feast, including a Hog Roast was being prepared as I said my goodbyes, leaving the happy couple to celebrate the remainder of their special day with their friends and family.

Congratulations to Gary and Sarah from Marie Anson Photography.
